Dutch S7 Group

Co-ordinated by Cor de Jong T +31 23 538 23 32

This is the very first report of the Dutch S7 Group based in Haarlem, the Netherlands. Our three members make up a small group of S7 enthusiasts. Every other Friday night two members meet at Cor’s house where we find all the necessary utensils to create wonderful models and where, under the enjoyment of some apple-pie and coffee, we let our imaginations run wild.

All of us are interested in the GWR and, as such, are constructing our own models of the GWR—the only difference being that each of us has set the model in a different period of time. Arnold is busy building a GWR Dean Single, whilst Ton is occupied with a pannier tank complete with inside motion. Cor is currently building a Broad Gauge layout set in the time period of the 1890s, that has as its prototype Kingswear, England, and for standard gauge a Dean Goods. Another point of his interest is constructing Dutch models of wagons, coaches and engines in ScaleSeven. The first example will be a Bogie Bolster type of wagon.

On a final note, this year we are intending to build a ScaleSeven layout in Great Western style in one of the available spaces in the house. For this we are planning to build our own points and tracks. Progress on this build can be followed closely as we will report on a regular basis in the Newsletter.
