Area Group Reports

As a result of the on-going threat posed by the Coronavirus, physical meetings have been either cancelled, replaced by virtual meetings or limited to six attendees observing strict preventative measures. Please contact group organisers directly for up to date information.

In this section you will find Area Group Reports as received. If you want to find out more about individual Area Groups then please click on the Area Group name in the adjacent box on the right which lists contact details, meeting dates and times as well as the published reports for that area.

Since the last report we have had meetings both in Sawbridgeworth and also at Northwood.

After the Sawbridgeworth meeting we took down part of the layout since we had agreed to take six boards to the S W Group meeting at Mark.

One complete circuit had been laid but it had not yet been wired up. Track lay- ing continues each week.

In early November we held another meeting in Northwood, where quite a lot of stock was on display.

Peter Moore brought several items of goods rolling stock including a GWR Fruit D, a GWR MOGO, a SR covered van and two Slaters Midland vans. Eldred Clark had an M & GN class C 0-4-4T which was partly kit but mainly scratch built.

Ian brought his Sentinel Y3 and a coach. Tony Watts had selection of the late Gordon Haywood’s wagons together with his A class L & Y 0-6-0 and a partly built belpaire version. Eric Ramsay came with some wagon underframe etches he had created for N E wagons. These seemed to be an improvement on most current systems.

I was also able to run my, almost com- pleted, Metropolitan Bo-Bo electric loco up and down on 2 ft of track.

On the second weekend in October, to- gether with Tony Watts, John Lewsey and Ian Norman, I travelled down to Somer- set with 24 feet of Croscombe Magna for the Group meeting at Mark where we all had a very enjoyable day

It is proposed to carry on holding meet- ings both in Northwood and Sawbridge- worth. In respect of Croscombe Magna we are in need of an electrical expert to help wire up the rest of the layout
