Tanat Valley 3 by Peter Drost
The Newport Model Railway Society has set members a challenge to build a small layout during the present pandemic. A criterion of 1 square foot per number of mm/ft in the chosen scale has been adopted. So, for 7mm scale, the builder is allowed 7 square feet.
Not content with my first Coronavirus layout I'm building a second one, now rejoicing in the name of Y Faenor (‘The Manor‘ in English) after the parish to the north of Merthyr.
It is 2.4m x 600mm (approx 8' x 2'), it will be to 7mm/ft, S7 standards, depict LNWR practice and sport two turnouts (as indeed the very best layouts do!).
Fellow NMRS member, Rod Hall, kindly produced the Templot plan for the layout. The timbers and sleepers have been laser cut direct from the Templot plan by Greenwood Model Railway Products

The baseboards and A4-size worktray are from Grainge and Hodder

and a good start has been made on a Rail Model Type D Signal Box.

My first S7 turnout completed!

And the coach runs over it!

Most of the track is now laid on Y Faenor
