2019 Wagon Building Competition Results

Subject - a livestock wagon

I hope that others who attended the recent AGM agree with me that the 2019 competition is the most interesting competition to date. Not only were we treated to seven models in the kit-built class, we were able to study two entries in the scratchbuilt class. What is pleasing is that there was an increase in the number of members who entered models in the competition. So, what was on offer?

Kit-built class

  • John Woodward with a Caledonian sheep wagon
  • Peter Drost with a Great Western horsebox
  • Andy Beaton with a Great Western short wheelbase cattle wagon
  • Ian Roll with a Midland Railway cattle wagon
  • Rob Thompson with a Soutern Railway cattle wagon
  • David Wigley with two Southern Railway cattle wagons

Scratchbuilt class

  • Peter Drost with a Great Western Special Cattle Van
  • Richard Wigley with a Southern Railway cattle wagon.

This year judging was by vote; every S7 member who attended the AGM had one vote per competition class. The winner in each class was unanimous, the results being:-

  • Chairman's Cup for the Kit-built class, John Woodward
  • President's Plate for the Scratchbuilt class, Peter Drost

The awards were presented by John Borkowski (Chairman of the S7 Group); Ian Roll accepting the President's Plate on behalf of Peter Drost who was not present.
