The 2020 2022 Carriage & Wagon Building Competition
At the AGM 2022, the competition resumed and the subject was what was planned for 2020 - see below for details! The shape of the competition for future years will be be announced soon.
The subject of the wagon competition (2022) was a hopper wagon.
There will be two classes of competition:
- Kit Class - A model substantially built from a kit available on the commercial model market. Any parts used in the construction of the model which are not supplied with the kit are to be declared at the time of entering the model in the competition.
- Scratch Built Class - A model substantially built from materials not identifiable as completed parts. Any parts provided that have been fabricated by others are to be declared at the time of the competition.
Definition:
Any wagon used for the transport of Goods (as defined by the Railway Company's terms of carriage) that are non-liquid and which the unloading of the Goods is by a discharge at or below the level of the wagon floor.
Procedure:
The model of the Wagon will be made available to the organisers of the AGM 2020 no later than 11:00 on the morning of the AGM. A description of the Wagon will accompany the model and will contain the following information:
- A brief description
- The originating Railway Company or Wagon Builder of the Wagon.
- Original construction Date of the prototype wagon
- Model:
- For the Kit Built Class - kit origin and materials used not supplied with the kit
- For Scratch Built Class - Parts used to represent substantial features, which have been made by others.
