South East Area Group Report August 2019

We have continued to have our monthly meetings usually on the last Thursday afternoon of the month in the shed at the bottom of my garden. We usually have an attendance of between 9 to 11 members. 

At the June meeting we ran a short sequence of trains and we had hoped to run a longer sequence at the July meeting, which was on the hottest day ever. However, it was not to be since several rail joints separated which caused loss of traction current. I think the high temperatures had created some of the problem. I spent a whole day after the meeting repairing all the problems. I also resolved one or two other electrical faults. Yesterday I tested the layout and it seemed to be working satisfactorily, though sometimes the layout seems to have a mind of its own. 

At the July meeting George Morris brought a model of a model of a Manning Wardle which he had built, and I think he said the body had been 3D printed. It is a model of the locos which used to run on the Isle of Dogs to North Greenwich or Island gardens as it is now called. It will run on the Bow Junction Layout of the Model Railway Club. 

David and Rob Wigley brought two trains. Firstly, a goods trained hauled by an LSWR 0-6-0 and a passenger train hauled by an LMS 0-4-4. Rob had converted both locos to Scale 7
