West Sussex Area Group Report August 2019

The West Sussex Area Group have recently refurbished their 28’ x 15’ running track which comprises of two Finescale circuits and one ScaleSeven. All circuits have loops to enable a second train to be available to run. 

The ScaleSeven circuit had been built using flatbottom rail soldered onto copperclad sleepers. This circuit had been laid in replacement of the old Course Scale track, when it was lifted a number of years ago. The combination of tight radius and inflexible track, had made ScaleSeven running unreliable. 

General repairs being required to the baseboards, gave the opportunity to relay all of the track, with the ScaleSeven circuit taking the outside line to increase the usable radius. Track was built using Exactoscale components and sleepers, mainly from Intentio and ScaleSeven stores, laid on a foam base. Power is either DC or DCC as required. A passing loop was also installed to increase capacity on the line.
