South East Area Group Report July 2020

My last report, written back in April, covered both the time before and also the first month of the Lockdown.

This report is for a period in which all physical meetings are still not taking place, however, our group has been quite active. Every Thursday afternoon, we have held Zoom meetings, which about 9 or 10 members take part each week. So in some ways we have been more active. During each meeting, participants take it in turns to tell each other, what modelling progress they have made during the previous week.

John Walker has been very busy working on his outdoor Lynton and Barnstable 16mm live steam railway together with his Finescale garden railway. He has also been working on an S7 loco driving wheel for another member.

Eldred Clark is building M&GN, 6 wheel coaches. George Morris has been rebuilding the body of a Bo-Bo diesel, to more correctly represent the original, and has also been working on baseboards for his own layout.

Eric Hines has converted a Dapol Sentinel to ScaleSeven, and Peter Morgan has done some research for Eric on the Sentinels, used on the GWR. Peter Moore is researching where he can obtain the correct lamp brackets, for a GWR luggage van. Andy Lovatt has had difficulties, since all his tools were quarantined down in Dorset, and he has only just been able to collect them. Eric Ramsay has been working on several projects and I apologise to Eric for not having written down the details. Rob Thompson has been working on a SR M7 between all his other committee duties.

I have spent most of the time working on the Model RailwayClub's ScaleSeven layout Bow Junction, building the fiddle yards. I have also laid the track on the foundry board in which I incorporated a point built by Rob Wigley, which was originally destined for Merney Junction. On Merney Junction I have completed fixing the "sky" for the Goods Yard section, except for the small flat section which will hang over the mains switch box. I used 'bendy' MDF.
