Tanat Valley 3 by Peter Drost
The London Festival of Railway Modelling at Alexandra Palace is always a milestone in the railway modelling calendar and as usual, the Scale 7 stand was in the West Hall adjacent to the Model Railway Clubs own demonstration displays. Over the two days we experienced all aspects of the hobby, from the dedicated finescale modellers to the youngsters, accompanied mum and dad, who just love to see something moving. There are those who admit they have never been to a model railway exhibition before and are fascinated by everything from the Ready to Run, to the displays of scratch building in progress.
Harnessing the latest technology also intrigues our visitors and there is a great deal interest in 3D printing and laser cutting.
Every now and again someone stops to chat admitting that they are considering a return to the hobby, now that time and finances are under less pressure. O Gauge presents an attractive scale so, why not Scale 7 while you are at it – do we have a potential new member?
In most instances our parting comment was that we will see them next year and in many cases I am sure we do.
All in all, two most enjoyable days and even some modelling achieved – see you again next year.
