Warley MRC S7 Group Report August 2021

Our Warley clubrooms have now reopened, but while we were away during the latest Covid lockdown, thoughts were given about the future and the way forward of our S7 Group in Warley MRC.

Soon after returning to the club, during a discussion on what work was still outstanding, a suggestion was made to modify Ellerton Road. Carrying this out involves reclaiming two of the old goods yard entrance boards from Dewsbury, then building some new 1-foot-wide baseboards to extend the front of the existing 2-foot-wide boards.

This process will enable us to include a run round in the existing goods yard and include a direct entrance to a new coal yard, which may also have a canal wharf. In order to do this, we will remove the existing wagon turn table and the cattle dock road, which was only used in one move during our exhibition running schedule. Work has started with the turntable and the cattle dock removed, two Dewsbury goods yard boards fixed in place and our version of track templates, i.e. tracing paper laid over existing track work and new roads pencilled in.

While all this work above has been going on we have also assembled the 2 new baseboards for our new station throat layout, which will house some of the Dewsbury items stripped from the old layout before it went to the great exhibition in the heavens, otherwise known as the skip.
